The applicant must complete several steps before a conditional offer of employment is made. The applicant must complete and pass a Civil Service Exam, submit an application, a personal interview, pass a physical ability course, a polygraph, medical exam, psychological exam, thorough background investigation, certification by the Civil Service Board, and by the Sheriff’s Hiring Board.
The Civilian Specialist is a non-sworn position with primary assignment in the Detention Bureau, but may be assigned to other areas of the organization based on operational need.
Collect, identify, classify, and process evidence collected from crime scenes. Use this evidence to help investigators identify the methods used to commit crimes, the types of materials present, and possible suspects.
