Falsely Reporting a Crime

According to KSA 21-3818 falsely reporting a crime is informing a law enforcement officer or state investigative agency that a crime has been committed, knowing that such information is false and intending that the officer or agency shall act in reliance upon such information..

Any person who knowingly provides false information is in violation of KSA 21-3818 and may be subject to prosecution. Falsely reporting a crime is a class A non-person misdemeanor.

This website offers several forms and reporting methods to bring awareness to the Sheriff’s Office of possible crimes being committed within Johnson County. The reporting methods on-line are not official police reports and do not replace normal methods of reporting crimes.

All forms and reports will be thoroughly reviewed and evaluated. Complaints may be referred to other local, state or federal agencies according to which law enforcement agency has jurisdiction over the matter.
