Evidence Submission and Packaging

The JCSOCL does not accept evidence for analysis from the general public. All evidence must be submitted through your local police department or the Johnson County Sheriff's Office.

The JCSOCL does not currently accept examination requests for the following types of testing:

  • Explosives
  • Questioned Documents

When submitting evidence to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office Criminalistics Laboratory, unless otherwise specified by the customer agency on the submission sheet, we will select the most appropriate method for the examination. See the JCSOCL Method List for a complete description of the methods we may select to use when examining your evidence.

!!! Recent Updates !!!

As of December 5th, 2016, all evidence submitted to the laboratory must be done so through our prelog website. All previous submission forms have been rescinded. The only form which remains in use is the one that can be found INSIDE a blood alcohol toxicology kit.

Suggestions for information regarding evidence submission, examination capabilities or anything else which you feel would be helpful should be directed to the laboratory.
