The Sheriff’s Office Warrant Unit is primarily charged with searching out, detecting, and apprehending persons wanted by written order of the Johnson County District Court.
Currently, there are approximately 7600 active Felony, Misdemeanor, and Civil arrest warrants maintained by the unit. The Warrant Unit is also tasked with attempting arrest warrants within Johnson County from other agencies nationwide as well as coordinating the extradition efforts of fugitives wanted by the Johnson County District Court who have been located outside the State of Kansas.
Last year, the Warrant Unit received approximately 6500 active arrest warrants for service. Approximately 4800 warrants were returned to the issuing courts due to apprehension of the wanted person or for other reasons ordered by the court.
